No, I did not get that wrong – I did mean “Easier Done than Said.”
We are so conditioned to the other that this looks so wrong. But is it?
Isn’t the other just an excuse for procrastination, not doing, or failure? I think it is. The more of the old sayings that you look at the more you understand that they are really just there to excuse our lack of success. And a poor excuse they are!
Jesus told us “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek, and you shall find … For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks, finds …” So it is easy to gain what we ask for and find what we seek.
The only thing that is left is the action or inaction. Make the choice and get on with it.
So why don’t we take action?
It actually starts very early in life. How often were we forgiven our misdeeds and not really expected to learn from these failings? Often society really just wants us to get along with others, not rock the boat and accept our lot in life. It is so easy to do. Go to the public school, get our good grades, learn what you can and move on to college. Then you go out and get a “good” job, secure your benefits to take “good care” of your family and all will be well.
But is it “well”? The results would belie that things are so “well.” Only about 5% make it to the point where they are really self sufficient at age 65. The rest of us are very dependent on the government, our former employer or our 401k to take care of us through the rest of our life. That is “security” for most of us.
Let us rethink this process. What can we do to make a change.
The first requirement is to recognize that a change must be made. Even that is not so easy. After all we are very comfortable in the place we are. Change will require discomfort. I have heard the story of a man who walked through town every day. He observed a dog on a porch who howled every so often. One day, he saw the master of the dog and asked him “Why does your dog howl?”
The master said “He is sitting on a nail.”
To which the walker responded “Why doesn’t he move?”
The response was “It doesn’t hurt enough as yet!”
And that is how so much of our life is. It doesn’t hurt enough for us to change, so we sit and howl (disguised as complaining) to any who will listen. But we are not uncomfortable enough to change.
Change can start by doing little things day in and day out. The more uncomfortable some of these changes might be, the more effective they will be in taking us to where we want to go.
The next thing will be to continue to take action. You may have to adjust your direction slightly so you can get to where you perceive you want to go, but it is much easier to make those adjustments when you are already in action.
Now a days, with power steering in most cars, we have forgotten how difficult it used to be to turn the wheel of a stationary car. But give it a little motion, and it became much easier. Also look at an airplane as it begins to taxi. As it begins to move, it is able to turn, but only once it is moving. The other thing we can learn from an airplane is that most of the energy is used to get it up in the air, well over 60% of the energy is used during takeoff. Very little is used to maintain flight and even less for landing at the destination.
“Saying” gets you nowhere.
Doing allows you to receive and find when you ask and seek.

There are nail salons everywhere these days. You can find one in almost every strip mall in every city and small town. Most nail salons offer only a basic manicure. Even their deluxe services usually don’t include special treatments for your hands. The skin on your hands is exposed to whether, harsh chemicals and sunlight everyday. Without special care it can become dry and cracked and age before it’s time.
Spa manicures offer much more than nail salons. They care not only for your nails, but for your cuticles and skin as well. Healthy nails start with health cuticles so a really good manicure should address the condition of the entire hand, not just the nails. Nail salons cannot compete with manicure services provided by a day spa.
A spa manicure often offers a warm paraffin treatment. The oils in paraffin penetrate your skin making it softer and smoother. When the paraffin cools it is peeled off and dead skin is removed with it. The skin of your hands is supple and soft. Lotion is massaged into the hands and forearms for additional nourishment for your skin. Your cosmetologist may suggest products or practices to help keep your hands healthy.
In addition to the skin care, standard nail care is part of the salon package. If you have problem nails, your cosmetologist will discuss way to correct the problems. Unlike nail salons, spas don’t smell like harsh chemicals and they avoid the use of harsh fluorescent lighting which keeps clients from relaxing and enjoying the experience.
Massage is an important component of the spa manicure. It is also important in pedicures and facials. Massage stimulates circulation while it promotes relaxation. Better circulation carries nutrients to the hand and feet improving the skin. When you have a spa facial, the massage brings the blood up near the surface of the skin, giving you face a fresh, lovely glow.
Medical professionals are beginning to recognize the therapeutic effects of massage. The benefits are both physical and psychological. Whether you have a full body massage or simply a facial or hand massage it will benefit your overall feeling of well being.
Nothing compares to a professional massage and most day spas offer massage services. To find out more about the massage services, you will need to contact the particular spa. There are many types of massage developed by different cultures over time. The beneficial effects of massage are recognized in holistic medicine. The fact the massage is practiced in many cultures is an indication that it has proven useful in healing.
If you don’t have the time to spend a full day at the spa and enjoy all the therapies they have to offer, at least have your next manicure and pedicure at a day spa instead of a nail salon. Find out what you have been missing and enjoy the comforts of the mini massage. Maybe you can even make the time for a facial. You’ll be glad you did.

If you are considering treating yourself to a day at a spa, the first thing you should investigate is the spa services offered by different spas in your area. If you desire a particular service, you’ll want to make sure that the spa you choose not only offers that service, but offers it as part of your spa package. The quality and availability of spa services varies between businesses, so it’s wise to check out local spas before committing to an appointment.
Most day spas offer facials as part of their service. Facials usually involve massage and the application of products to stimulate and exfoliate the skin. The length of facial treatments varies. Some spas may also offer chemical peels by licensed cosmetologists. These peels are generally not included in spa packages and must be purchased separately.
Manicure and pedicure treatments are offered by most spas as spa packages. If you are planning to have both services, it is usually less expensive to take them as a package. If you want a specific manicure or pedicure treatment, check to make sure it is included in your package.
Massage is one of the most popular services offered by spas. Massage therapists are required to be licensed in most states. There are a number of different types of massages available at most spas and the prices vary based on the type of service. It is usually possible to combine massage with other spa services in a spa package.
Spas may offer some type of hydrotherapy. It may be a hot tub or Jacuzzi, or it may be a simple soak in aromatic bath salts. Usually this spa service is included in package deals.
Some spas may offer hair services but these are usually not part of spa packages. Waxing is also offered at many spas but is not generally bundled with other spa services. Cosmetic application and education are not part of most packages.
Many modern day spas cater to both men and women. Spa packages may be different for each gender, since in many cases the spa services sought are different for each gender. Spas often offer specials for certain holidays like Fathers Day, Mothers Day, New Years Day and Valentines Day. Look for these “sale” packages which can be a bargain.
If you plan to spend the entire day at the spa, most spas offer a meal as part of the full day spa packages. You may want to check though, because spending the entire day without eating would be uncomfortable. If you sign up for a full day spa package, the spa may give you a schedule for your treatments in advance.
The prices of spa packages vary depending on the spa services offered and the length of your stay. You can find relatively inexpensive packages for manicures and pedicures, or you can choose to add additional services which will increase the price. Spa packages make great gifts and you may wish to consider giving a spa package to a friend or loved one.

A royer oscillator is an electronic oscillator which has the advantages of simplicity, low component count, sinusoidal waveforms and easy transformer isolation. It was first described by George H. Royer in December 1954 in Electrical Manufacturing.
Circuit description
The circuitry consists of a transformer with a primary winding, a feedback winding and (optionally) a secondary winding. The primary winding is centre-tapped, with each half driven by a transistor collector. The feedback winding couples a small amount of the transformer flux back in to the transistor bases to generate the oscillations. A capacitor across the primary winding gives the transformer a resonance, which sets the oscillation frequency. An inductor in the centre-tap transformer supply reduces harmonic content and improves efficiency.
Applications
The most common use of the royer oscillator is to drive the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) backlight of an LCD display. CCFL lamps need a sinusoidal waveform for good efficiency, which is necessary for good battery life on portable equipment.

See or make connections between ideas that seem far apart, look to nature for models and principles to solve problems, make the familiar strange and the strange familiar, cultivate curiosity, ask lots of questions, observe, be a good listener, and read to generate questions. Reading without reflecting is comparable to eating without digesting. These are but some of the many useful bits of advice that Dr. John Adair offers in The Art of Creative Thinking.
Dr. Adair was kind enough to answer some questions that occurred to me as I read his book.
Q: You have written books about time management, teambuilding, strategic leadership, growing leaders, decision making and problem solving, effective leadership and management and many others. What motivated you to write a book about the art of creative thinking?
Dr. Adair: Two reasons. First, on a personal level I am always looking for ways to enhance my own creativity, so this book is a record of my own journey. Secondly, I believe that creative thinking (having ideas) and innovation (bringing them to market) are vital today for any form of human enterprise.
Q: To be a great leader do you have to excel as a creative thinker?
Dr. Adair: You certainly have to be a clear thinker with a good strategic mind. A great leader, in the qualitative rather than historical sense of ‘great’, is creative, simply because excellent leadership and creativity are two sides of the same coin. It’s about inspiring and drawing the greatness out of people, releasing creative talents, building teams and – ultimately – making a better world. What could be more creative than that?
Q: I can’t think of anything that could be more creative than making a better world. What would you recommend to young managers who aspire to gain a reputation in their organization as being capable of generating innovative and creative ideas?
Dr. Adair: Yes, to have a good idea and to make it happen successfully is a sure way to make your name. It depends, of course, on the ethos of the organization. It won’t do you much benefit if you work in that organization I won’t name whose chief executive said the other day: “Change? That is the last thing we want; things are bad enough already.”
Q: In your book you advise your readers to practice serendipity, which your readers may be surprised to learn is a term that originates back to the mid 1700’s. How does one practice serendipity?
Dr. Adair: Serendipity is the happy knack of making discoveries (or having new ideas) when you are least looking for them. Know it can happen and don’t be surprised when it does.
Q: Do you need to have a “prepared mind” in order to be creative?
Dr. Adair: It certainly helps. All sorts of ingredients go into the making of a prepared mind. It isn’t just a matter of being free to be attentive, vital as that attribute is.
Q: Could you please tell me about your concept of the “Depth Mind” and how it relates to creativity?
Dr. Adair: The “Depth Mind”, as I called it, is central to creativity. What it means is that much of our analyzing, synthesizing and valuing goes on at an unconscious level, and in some cases the resulting ‘product’ is a new idea that rises suddenly or gradually into the surface mind. This process is exceptionally well attested in the biodata on creative people, from the talented to gifted. Most people are familiar with the Left Brain and Right Brain distinction. More recently brain research has, I believe, confirmed my “Depth Mind” hypothesis by identifying it in the Rear Brain – it is the Front Brain that does all our conscious thinking.
Q: You wrote that one way to develop your curiosity is to ask more questions when talking with others and when thinking. You called it “talking in your mind to yourself”. Does that mean we need to become more child-like in asking questions, and never cease to ask more questions?
Dr. Adair: Yes, you have hit the nail on the head. Or rather the bolt. For you should think of questions as a set of spanners – hammers are useless- that release the bolts of the Pandora’s Box of creative ideas that are potentially present in every meeting you will ever have. The trick is to open the boxes of other people’s Depth Minds! It’s hard work being a creative thinker – let others do it for you and then build on their ideas.
Q: You advise that one of the best ways to train ourselves in observation is drawing or sketching. Do you recommend that in order to increase our creative thinking abilities we should go to art college or at least take some lessons on how to draw?
Dr. Adair: Drawing teaches you to see things as they really are. It also frees you from the tyranny of fearing other people’s comments on your efforts. It also uses parts of the brain you don’t normally utilize. You may not become an artist like your teacher, but you can pick up a lot of crumbs under the table about what it means to be a creative person.
Q: You point out that creative thinkers are good listeners and also there is a great deal of benefit from reading and reflecting on what we read. Do you think there is a risk of people becoming less creative with increased exposure to mass media and reliance on quick sources of information such as internet search engines?
Dr. Adair: There are no signs of people becoming less creative – it’s amazing how many people are creative today in an enormous variety of ways. Mass media and the internet are sources of information and ideas, so I have nothing against them except as time management hazards. You do need time to think, and over-indulgence in the media or running down Google’s endless ladders may not be cost-effective from the creative thinking perspective.
Q: You said that preconceived ideas, which we all have, are really dangerous when they are below our level of awareness. Does this mean that the most creative thinking will most often be done in collaboration with others, because it is easier to recognize unconscious assumptions in others?
Dr. Adair: As a Chinese proverb says, No man is wise by himself. The same holds true for creative thinking. It is a social activity, although paradoxically you may spend much time on your own – as writers, composers and artists do. You should, with a little practice, soon begin to discern an unconscious assumption that some one else is making. And if anyone points out to you what you are taking for granted unawares, then they are doing you a very good turn and you should thank them.
Creative thinking always involves this sort of team work. A parting word of encouragement, the worst unconscious assumption you can make is that you are not a creative thinker. You may, of course, be right, but you will never know until you put into practice the principles I have outlined in The Art of Creative Thinking. The trouble is that we don’t know ourselves very well in some respects and we tend to be poor judges of our own creative potential. So experiment, have fun, and give yourself a few surprises.
Conclusion: This is a book that should be read by those who wish to develop their ability to generate more creative ideas at work or in their personal life, and therefore be more successful. In case we should become discouraged John Adair reminds us that a lot of our efforts will not be very creative in themselves, but will support future creative thinking as we engage in analyzing, synthesizing, imagining and valuing. Dr. Adair recommends that the aspiring creative thinker keep a commonplace notebook — a necessary tool for creative thinking.
Writing information makes it become a part of you Make entries as they occur to you, do not try to be systematic Record what stimulates, interests or is memorable (let your instincts or intuition decide what is worth writing down) Include inspirational quotations, stories and examples Don’t worry whether the idea is right or wrong and Don’t look at your entries very often so when you do they will spark creativity.

For nearly thirty years I have watched in some amazement as we elected and empowered people who wanted nothing more than to prove the power of the government was fumbling, feckless and FUBARed (F’d Up Beyond All Recall for those of you who skipped your military service). I noticed warning signs that they were blithely fulfilling the words of their own prophecies long before Katrina blew all of that away.
If you really want to go back far enough it was the Reagan proposition that government was the problem that was the first warning sign. We were soon headed down a path that destroyed effective government action. We still spent ever more money enriching those private parties who could gain access to the public till. Privatization meant more money to contractors for less effective service. There are thousands of examples of the wastefulness of this policy direction. Look under Halliburton in Iraq if you want a prime example.
We didn’t really take a hiatus in the Clinton years. Privatization continued on its perverse path. By then everyone knew government was the only real problem with our system. All it was good for was taxing and spending money. Markets worked better every time and even better without regulation. Money became the only issue that government could solve. Clinton abandoned reinvestment in basic social infrastructure after his failure to sell universal healthcare but he balanced the budget. Earnings from work still lagged compared to income from investments.
No oil tax increases to reduce consumption or real answers to our need to increase exports and reduce imports were tried. A little investment in the future via tax credits for R&D was attempted. It usually was too short term to have a solid impact on our household income base. Virtually unlimited policy support for moving jobs out of the country resulted in lowered incomes here. So average household incomes declined or at best remained steady. This trend continued through boom and bust years alike for close to thirty years.
Now it seems likely that someone else besides me must have noticed that household incomes are the only real basis for personal consumption. But we continued blithely on, loosening credit to keep the debt based economy moving and inflating bubbles even through the years of W’s ascension. Still, even after 911 issued its wakeup call, we continued the move to contractors to provide basic governmental services. No one wanted to hear the fact that we were on the wrong path to either good government or prosperous households. Clearly if we wanted to increase household wealth we needed to pay higher wages. Productivity boomed and incomes from wages still declined.
So here we are and here we will remain unless and until we get back on the path of capitalizing not just banks but households and government owned infrastructure. We need to increase incomes and build capital in our middle class and lower income groups. The only problem is that capital is now very hard to access for even the people with the best credit ratings in the world. If you want to drive a nail you might need to buy a hammer and a nail.
In the W Bush II era we quickly degenerated into hitting the public policy thumbnail nearly one hundred percent of the time with the privatization tool. It hurts when you hit that thumbnail over and over and over again. The answer is to look at the nail, not the thumbnail, and hold the hammer just tightly enough to keep its path under control. Self preservation eventually takes care of the rest. Unfortunately government still has no way to detect pain impulses, except losing elections.
Republican control of government and antagonism to governmental controls self destructed. It did so by establishing privatization as the goal and not the means. It also ignored history and promoted unfettered markets as the answer to every problem. The demolishing of governmental agency power was not measured by the success of whatever replaced it. Privatization and deregulation became the ends and not the means to create success in governance.
Obama saw that and took it as a pathway into office. He rode into town on the proposition that government needs to be the answer some of the time. Now he is going to have to define precisely what that means. A lot of the press is still reflexively dedicated to the idea that government is a problem everywhere every time.
A major basis for hope is his pragmatic approach to closing the wounds of recent years. No Ideologues are going to ransack his policy cupboard. He is prepared to do whatever works and to take whatever advice he thinks will solve problems. He is not a creature of the right or the left. He is a man of his word and a believer in solving problems through conflict resolution not conflict creation.
It is a good time for us to all approach the future with some pragmatism for a change. That will be a major change if he can hold that line. I, for one, am betting on his integrity and honesty and pragmatism to prevail. Wouldn’t that be the most refreshing change to hit Washington for a long time? A leader driven by goals and not ideology, measuring policies by their success or failure not the principle hidden somewhere far behind them. A real human leader complete with ethics and morals and conscience, oh my, how will Washington ever survive?

All of us know the strength and flexibility of Super Glue. It is easily applicable. Whenever we want to fix something broken, the first thing that we think about is super glue. It is a basic adhesive material for craftsperson, cobblers, and contractors for all their construction or repair needs.
What about super glue removal? One may have wondered whether it is possible or not? The answer is yes. Super glue is very strong and it also sticks the surfaces quickly. Due to this ability sometimes we also might face troublesome conditions like accidentally we glued our fingers with each other. Or a piece of something got glues to our hands. Sometimes a small piece of balsa wood or plastic from a model has completely bonded to the skin! Not to worry, here is an idea behind the super glue removal. The solution is acetone.
Acetone is basic solvent used in a household nail polish remover. It will solve your problem. But before you use the nail polish remover, just confirm that it actually contains the acetone. Let two or three drops of acetone on the skin where super glue has harmed your skin. Be very cautious in gently detaching the skin apart as in removing a bandage from the skin. Remove it carefully because there are chances of ripping the skin. Manufacturers have other option in form of acrylic nails. Make sure about the presence of acetone in it.
You have to be always careful when you are removing super glue from a fabric. Here are also you can use acetone directly, but there are chances that it might discolor the fabric. Straight Acetone can harm the skin as well. So wash with soap and water after use and apply hand lotion to refill the skin and remove any dryness effects.
Your cloths need an intense care while removing super glue. Apply acetone with an old toothbrush, reapply the acetone a number of times and brush to remove it layer-by-layer.
Brush the outer side first and then the inner side.
Apply acetone in same manner for Counters, tables and floors. But still you the glue is not removed completely then reapply the acetone till you do not get effect. However, it is advisable that Super Glue is not to be applied on broken glass. If you have already bonded it then just keep it in water until they get separated.
Warm or soap water is useful for removing super glue from your skin. A teaspoon handle or a pencil will help in rolling the skin apart. Fingernail polish remover with an acetone base will work to skin. You can apply hot water on attached lips and make use of saliva. Peel or roll lips part. Saliva will lift the adhesive in 1-2 days. The same thing of soak water application can be done with eyes. If your eyeball are accidentally came into contact of super glue ten use warmed 3% sodium bicarbonate solution to wash eyes
Super glue removal is not an impossible thing.

A unique and fun Wahm career is to start a manicure service. If you have a license in cosmetology, or are thinking of getting one, you aren’t limited to working in a salon. Many women are now looking for a more relaxed manicure experience, and you can provide them that by starting a manicure service in your home or a traveling manicure service. You can go into business for yourself with little start up costs and great rewards.
To start with you’ll need to get your license to manicure nails, if you don’t have one already. You’ll need to post your license in your place of business and also have extra copies just in case the original gets lost or damaged. If you decide to offer a travel manicure service, you’ll need a copy of your license to put in your bag. You’ll also want to have a system for keeping track of money set up before you begin. You can use a computer program like QuickBooks to track your money flow, or do it by hand in a traditional ledger. Appointment books and receipts are also a necessity. Finally, getting a business telephone number is a necessary step in setting yourself up as a professional in your field.
The other necessary step is gathering all of your supplies and finding a convenient way to carry them from your home to the client’s home. You’ll need to bring your polish colors, manicure tools, nail polish remover, appointment book, receipt book and necessary supplies (including extra towels and cotton balls).
Traveling to a client’s home is not for everyone, but there are many benefits to offering a travel manicure service. From your customer’s perspective it is much more enjoyable to have you come to them. One of the biggest drawbacks of getting a manicure out of the home for your client is that she has to drive home and avoid damaging the fresh polish. When you come to your client’s home, she won’t have to worry about ruining her new manicure.
Although you won’t technically be a Wahm when you offer a traveling manicure service, you will have many benefits. If you offer manicures in client homes, you’ll reduce the number of people coming in and out of your home each day. In addition, you’ll be able to use your mileage as a tax write-off (make sure to keep accurate records of how much you drive for your business). Working at home can be isolating, so getting out of the house to do manicures can be a break in your day.
Advertising your business can happen in many different ways. You can leave your business cards at local Laundromats, convenience stores, gift shops and daycare centers. You can also put flyers up at bulletin boards around town. Network with people that you already have contact with, like the parents at your children’s school, your husband’s co-workers and your former co-workers. Tell people that you are starting a business and get excited about it. Share with everyone you can think of. Before you know it, you’ll have a list of consistent clients who you manicure each month, or week.
Starting a manicure service can be a great way to work at home and do something that you love. Instead of paying high fees for a chair at a salon, start your own business and have the flexibility and income that you deserve.
