DIY solar heating panels can be pretty simple, as long as you prepare the materials you need for the project. Anyone with average handyman skills should be able to easily complete the task, and special tools are not required.
All you need, in terms of equipment, are:
* a wood saw
* a hacksaw
* a drill
* a screwdriver
* a hammer
* screws
* nails
* a file
* a paintbrush
* a tape measure
Materials you need to procure include the following:
* a 10mm annealed copper tube
* a 16swg aluminum sheet
* glass fiber wool
* a marine-ply sheet
* 4mm glass
* timber for the frame
The copper tubes will be used to bring the water through the collector area. Copper has high thermal conductivity which makes it perfect for the job. It’s available in most plumbers’ shops, and comes in 20m, 25m, and 30m coils.
Once you’ve assembled the copper tubing, you’ll attach it to the blackened absorber plate. It will collect the sun’s heat and transfer it to the copper tubing. It is recommended to use aluminum as an absorber plate because it is cheaper than copper sheets and it is more readily available in most locations.
The absorber plate will be encased inside a wooden frame. It is made from hardwood, with a marine-ply backing sheet. If you want the frame to last longer, have a preservative coating applied to it. This will add a couple of years of service.
The last part of the DIY solar heating panel is the transparent cover. This will prevent heat loss especially during cool weather. Glass is preferable because of its high light-transmission value. If you can’t afford a float glass, acrylic sheeting should be a suitable substitute. The downside of using acrylic sheeting is that it can be prone to scratching and discoloration.
The efficiency of DIY solar heating panels might not be as good as the efficiency of commercially available ones, but they can get good results. And imagine of the savings you can get when you make one. A DIY solar heating panel costs a third the price of a commercial one. Not only that but you’ll be cutting down your energy bill as well if you use it. If constructed right, the panel has a life expectancy of twenty years. There are no moving parts involved, and no maintenance should be required the panel.
Constructing DIY solar heating panels is not complicated and is one of the easier DIY solar power projects. This is one project that you should definitely try if you are interested in setting up DIY solar power equipment or systems. You can use the panel to heat your pool, or to supply your home with hot water.

th is one of the most peaceful places in the house; somewhere you can go to escape from the pressures of the world and relax in soothing hot water. It is a particularly wonderful place in the cold of winter where you can forget about the howling cold wind outside and read a good book or listen to relaxing music. The great news, therefore, particularly if you children who like to have a somewhat more exciting time in the bath with perhaps planes dive bombing into the water, is that if there is a problem with the appearance of your bath, chances are, it can be easily fixed.
You may have a beautiful old acrylic bath, one that you have treasured for years, and that you thoroughly enjoy. Now if it gets a scratch, it will be the same as if your car got a scratch. It is an obvious flaw that will eat away at your patience with every glance you take. So, just like a car, you can apply car polish and gently apply it to the surface using a soft cloth.
This is great news, but if you get a small chip, this can look a lot more serious, and you may be worried that this is the end of your beautiful bath’s appearance. But no, again just like a car, you can fix it with a two-part car repair filler. This may seem very odd, but it works a treat and is a lot cheaper than having a specialist come and fix the bath. Mix the filler as per the instructions, just as if you were applying to a car, and mix in a small amount of acrylic paint so that it is the same color as the bath tub. Apply the filler and leave it to harden, then use a very fine wet and dry sandpaper, keeping it wet while you sand. Just make sure that you do this very carefully as you don’t want to scratch another part of your bath.
Sadly, if a big piece is missing from the tub, a professional is needed. When they come, make sure that you get a quote for the repair as this can be quite expensive.
The solution for a small chip in an enamel bath tub is even more interesting. You can use nail polish. Yes, it’s true, everyday nail polish. Even though enamel is very hard and has a surface like glass, you’ll find that if it is hit, it can chip. If this results in a larger chip, then you’ll need to use an epoxy resin repair kit, but make sure that there is no rust first as you will need to get rid of this using a rust remover. Then after applying and wiping away any excess, you’ll need to leave the bath for an hour before smoothing with a fine sandpaper, again taking great care not to damage other areas of the bath tub. You can then use enamel paint, sanding in between each application until you have achieved the same color as the rest of the bath tub.
If you need to resurface your bath, you can do it yourself, but if you are not experienced, it is recommended that you get a contractor to do the work. Make sure that you talk about whether the contractors will work on site or if they will take the tub away with them. If you decide to do the job alone, be sure to have on appropriate clothing and use sealing material on every air opening in the room to prevent bugs and dirt from ruining all of your hard work.

Planning a Spa Themed Shower at home will save you money and the options on what to do are endless! A spa themed shower at home gives you a lot of flexibility and you can plan the day exactly as you please, keeping the bride and her wishes in mind of course!
Here is a list of ideas on how to plan a spa themed shower. From the invitation to food, games, activities and favors, this list will help you get started on planning the perfect spa themed bridal shower.
Invitations: Once you have the location, the guest list and the date set, it’s time to get those invitations out! You can choose to either buy a pack of invitation or make them and print them, you can even send an e-vite for the most affordable option and have it customized to reflect your theme. A few suggestions on what to include:
-Obviously date, time and location!
-Who the shower is for–come up with a cute phrase for this
-Include something fun like a printed gift certificate that you can make at home. Have it say, “this certificate entitles you to a day of relaxation and fun–services inlcude, a mani-pedi, massage and facial!
-Be sure to include where the bride has registered
-You may also have special instructions, such as dress code- for example, tell them to wear their favorite robe and slippers or be sure to bring a towel, in case these are things the host will not be able to provide.
Food: The food for a spa theme shower should be simple and on the healthier side. Choose bite size finger sandwiches, fruit salad, salad, cheese and cracker, deli meat, and dips like hummus with pita chips for a really nice and colorful spread.
Drinks: Again, opt for healthy drinks and juices–make them look prettier with cut up fruit like apple and orange slices in a nice clear jug of colorful fruit juice. Also, be sure to have plenty of water with sliced cucumber and lemon to make it feel like a real spa.
Activities: This is the best part of a spa theme bridal shower! For the spa activities, I would recommend setting up stations and appointing one or two people to work each station. The best people to run each station would probably be the bridesmaids, but if you know someone who specializes in any of these areas and is willing to work one of the stations, even better!!
-Station 1: Massage Center- Be sure to have plenty of massage oils and relaxing music playing for this, having more than 1 massage table set-up will move things along quicker, especially if there are a lot of guests. Perhaps draping this area off would be a good idea and limit the massage to no more than 20-30 minutes.
-Station 2:Facial Center-Hopefully you can set this station up somewhere close to a sink. There are many ways to do an at home facial. Start with cleansing your guests face, than steam to open up the pores, apply the mask–one of my favorite and most simple face masks that is typically safe for most skin types is pure honey mixed with the juice of a lemon, apply cucumber slices on the eyes and let the honey mask harden a bit over a period of 10-15 minutes, remove with a warm damp washcloth. Lastly, exfoliate with basic sugar–an excellent exfoliator, which is typically safe for all skin types, but should probably be avoided on sensitive skin or skin that is broken out with acne. Remove the sugar scrub with your fingers by using water and gentle circular motions.
-Station 3:Mani-Pedi Center-For the manicures-set up a couple of tables with a variety of nail polish colors, nail grooming tools, such as files and clippers, nail polish remover and hand lotion. Assign a member of the bridal court to perform the manicures. For the pedicures, start with removing any polish off the guest’s feet. Have them soak their feet in the pedicure bubbles. You can either purchase a spa pedicure from a local drug store or beauty supply store or to save money, set up a couple of large basins and fill with hot water and vibrating bubbles. Next use exfoliator to exfoliate the feet and a foot file to remove dead skin. Rinse off the exfoliator and wash feet, now finish the pedicure by grooming the toes.
There is so much more you can do–imagination and creativity are key when planning a spa theme bridal shower. Send your guests home with spa theme bridal shower favors.

As manufacturing processes continue to improve and chemical treatments become more effective, the cost of hardwood floors goes down. Today, there are a variety of styles of hardwood flooring for homeowners looking to add some charm to their home.
However, some homeowners are unsure about what type of hardwood floor to choose. Traditional solid wood flooring was once the only option, but now engineered surfaces can provide greater stability at a lower cost. The type of flooring that should be chosen is completely dependent on the wishes of the owner and in what capacity the floor will be used.
Solid Wood Flooring
Solid wood floors are planks of wood usually 3/4ths of an inch thick that are hewn from a single piece of lumber. They can be made from a variety of woods, including oak. These floors were used in all homes with hardwoods before the invention of engineered floors. They must be nailed or stapled to a wooden sub floor because glue would not withstand the shifting the wood does in different temperatures.
This kind of flooring is attractive, but it has some restrictions. The wood is susceptible to moisture and temperature. The wood expands and contracts based on the weather. This can cause cosmetic damage to the floor if it was not properly installed. The installation techniques used with solid planks also means that they can not be put directly over a concrete foundation. Also, they require more maintenance than engineered floors.
Solid wood flooring comes pre-finished or unfinished so the homeowner may choose which shade of stain they would like. Solid hardwoods are very resilient to refinishing, so the homeowner can change sand and re-stain them many times. They are also likely to add more value to the home overtime because of this.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood floors are made up of layers of hardwoods glued together with other materials like laminates. However, one should never mistake an engineered floor for a laminate. Laminate floors do not contain any solid wood and often sound hollow. Since engineered floors are covered with a strip of solid wood, they look almost exactly like a solid wood floor.
These floors can be installed over concrete, because they can be glued in place. Some new types of engineered floors have snap-in systems that allow a floating floor to be put in without the use of glue or nails. Since the grain of the different layers of wood is runs in opposite directions, an engineered plank is also more stable and less susceptible to splitting.
The composite flooring also uses less wood than solid floors, so it usually costs much less. It also comes finished or unfinished, but it cannot be refinished as much as a solid wood floor because it is possible to sand through the veneer.
Acrylic-Impregnated Wood Flooring
Acrylic-impregnated wood flooring is made of hardwoods injected with sealants and stain. This makes the wood very durable, but impossible to refinished. This kind of floor is rarely used in private construction.
Concerns about Hardwood Floors
Though hardwood floors are a beautiful addition to a home, recently some have been concerned that they are a frivolous use of slow-growing woods. Solid wood floors, especially, require the use of older and larger trees in order to produce a viable product.
Some notable alternatives are laminate and cork floors. Laminate uses wood byproducts and other materials to create a solid faux-wood surface, but many complain that it is noisy and easily damaged. Cork floors are durable and come from faster-growing trees.
Bamboo flooring has quickly become one of the most popular alternatives. The bamboo plant grows at a fantastic rate, so the source of the floor is renewed every year. The wood is also known for its resistance to moisture and damage.
Making the Right Decision
There are many factors a homeowner needs to consider before they choose their flooring. One of the first considerations is where the floor is going to be placed. Rooms with heavy traffic and moisture may spell disaster for a solid wood floor.
Another factor is the home’s décor. Solid wood may be a better choice for specific stains and colors. Also, floors can come in long planks or parquet squares. The pattern one lays their floor in may greatly affect the look of the room.
The most important factor to decide on is cost. Overall, engineered floors will cost less. There are also extra costs like installation or finishing to budget for. A more expensive floor might come with a better warranty or installation price. Carefully weight these factors before choosing a new floor.
Your pet is probably a big part of your life and keeping your pet healthy requires a lot of work. You have to be sure to feed your cat the correct food, give it plenty of water and exercise as well. Training is vital too, because an untrained animal in the house is not going to ease anyone’s concerns or make anyone happy. Not only that, but you have to care for the cat’s body as well. Regular baths are important, as is brushing and nail care.

Hardwood floors can be installed anywhere in a home and can be prepared from several species of wood such as elm, ash, oak, amendoim, cypress, teak, cherry, walnut, rosewood, hickory, and maple. The hardness, stability, color, and alterations in color vary with wood type. Chestnut, Douglas fir, and North American Cherry offer low hardness whereas hardwood from Brazilian Walnut, Caribbean Cherry, and Bloodwood is extremely hard. The stability of hardwood flooring has an inverse relation with the moisture inherent in the wood and is independent of the engineering. The appearance of unfinished hardwood flooring plays an important role in the grading process. The commonly assigned grades to hardwood flooring include clear, select, common 1, common 2, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3.
Hardwood flooring enhances the look of a room and when laid in harmony with the furniture and other elements in the interior design of a room, it bestows an elegance that synthetic flooring is unable to match.
Hardwood flooring can be installed using the following methods:
Nail Down: Nails are used to attach hardwood to the subfloor either on grade or above grade. Nails are usually used for hardwood with a thickness of 3/4″.
Staple Down: Nails can be substituted with a pneumatic stapler for attaching the hardwood to the subfloor. Stapling is easier to accomplish as compared to nailing and is therefore favored by DIY enthusiasts.
Glue Down: Patterned wood panels or parquets can be glued to the subfloor on, above, or below grade. The subfloor can be either wooden or concrete.
Floating: Engineered and Longstrip floors can be installed using the floating process in which a pad of foam is placed between the floors and the subfloor. The hardwood boards are held in place by means of adhesive that is applied in the tongue and groove portion of each board. Floating enables the installation of hardwood on uneven surfaces.
Hardwood flooring is easy to maintain and the following guidelines should help homeowners to ensure the beauty and longevity of their hardwood flooring.
• The flooring must be swept and vacuumed regularly to prevent the accumulation of dust that may scratch the finish
• Doormats and rugs at entrances prevent sand particles from abrading the hardwood flooring
• Furniture and chairs should have padding on the legs in order to prevent scratching the floor while dragging/moving furniture
• The dimensions of hardwood flooring are liable to change with humidity; a relative humidity of around 45% should be maintained all year round
• A rug or mat should be placed in front of workstations, washbasins, kitchen sinks in order to prevent scratching and staining from utensils, detergents, and water
• Hardwood flooring should be protected from direct light, whether natural or artificial. Intense direct light can lead to discoloration of the floor
Hardwood floorings can be treated with surface finishes that lend it a gloss, increase resilience, and make it water-resistant. The finishes consist of urethanes and polyurethanes. A hardwood floor with a surface finish does not require waxing.
Wax finishes penetrate the cells of the wood and offer a low-gloss finish. Periodic buffing helps to restore the sheen of wax-finished floors. Hardwood flooring used in areas of high traffic such as stores and restaurants are impregnated with acrylic finishes that increase its hardness and durability.

A lot of women go to nail salons at least once a month to get their hair done as well as pedicures, manicures and other services. In fact, almost all women go to nail salons in order to look good.
Nail salons are beauty services establishments that offer nail care like pedicures, manicures as well as nail enhancements. Usually, nail salons offer services intended for skin care. In the United States, nail salon establishments are about 38,000 according to the popular “Nails Magazine”. Aside from this, the people who render this kind of services are called “nail technicians”.
A pedicurist, nail technician, and manicurist provide varieties of service such as shaping and cleaning in order to make a more attractive nail, pushing and softening back the cuticles, and applying polish on the nail. There are also wide selections of nail salon equipments for services like nail dryers, pedicure and manicure accessories, along with manicure tables, foot baths, pedicure stools, unit and spa equipment among others.
Equipments that are used in nail salons differ from salons that only offer hair-styling services. The materials needed are a bit costly depending on the brands and things that the owners use.
The basic equipments that are needed in starting a nail salon business are listed below:
Manicure Table: This is the most common item that almost if not all nail salons use. It is like a desk that allows the nail technicians to work on a steady and ample surface. Normally, manicure tables have storage drawers, swivel casters and a hand rest. High-end manicure tables have additional features that include built-in electrical outlets, polish racks, as well as vents. Typical manicure tables are made out of wood laminate for easy cleaning and durability. The prices range from 100 US dollars up to 1000 US dollars. Prices are of course dependent on the offered features as well as the materials.
Nail Dryers: They are usually placed on top of the manicure table in order to allow the customers to dry their nails.
Padded Chair: This equipment is needed for pedicure spas for it is where the customers sit and relax while the nail technicians do their job. Most padded chairs also offer rolling back massages. It is fixed to a foot spa where the customers can soak their feet before having their nail treatment. Foot spas offer full feet and lower legs massages. Pedicure spas cost around 3,000 to 4,000 US dollars.
Technician’s stool: This is a low stool that allows nail technicians to have a better angle at facing the customers and doing nail treatments.
